If you're one of those people who swears by the Old Farmer’s Almanac (like your great grandpa did), then buckle up! Fall 2025 is a bout 10 weeks away in Utah and Nevada, and it's going to be a ride!

According to the Almanac (which I still trust more than iPhones and TV Weathermen), September is going start off hot and stormy, then chill out with lots of sunshine. We can expect an average temperature around 82°, which is a couple degrees warmer than usual. But how about rain? Don't get your hopes up. We'll receive hardly any.

October is going to cool down a bit, around 67.5°, with the eastern parts of Utah feeling a little brisk while the west stays average. But, don’t let the word “cool” fool you. We’re talking temperature rollercoaster vibes: it will be warm, then cool, then maybe some light showers just to screw with us.

And then there’s November, the official kickoff to "Is That Snowing or Will I Get A Sunburn" season. The Rockies will start seeing snow on the regular, Utah and Nevada will mostly enjoy the kind of unsettled weather that makes you second guess every road trip. Thanksgiving week could throw some curveballs (rain? snow? tornado?), so maybe don't wait till the last minute to grab that turkey!

Overall, the Southwest gets the dry end of the stick (boo!) but it's great for your hiking plans (and the people traveling south to escape the cold). But hey, fewer rain delays means more time to argue about politics at Thanksgiving!
