A BIG Winter Storm Is FINALLY Hitting Utah & Nevada This Week!
After months of dry weather, people have been wondering if winter decided to just skip town! But finally... Mother Nature will finally be making an entrance. A big winter storm system is set to hit Utah and Nevada from Wednesday night through Friday night. This storm system is set to bring:
- Rain
- Snow
- Wild wind
What to Expect in Nevada
Las Vegas will most likely NOT be turning into a winter wonderland, but rain is finally on the way! This will bring a much-needed break from the dry dusty conditions that this region has been experiencing. However, if you look toward the higher elevations, that's where you're going to see some real winter action happening!
- Spring Mountains and Sheep Range are under a Winter Storm Warning from 10 PM Wednesday to 4 PM Friday.
- 12 to 24 inches of snow are expected above 7,000 feet, with even higher totals on the peaks.
- Gusty winds up to 50 mph could make travel through these areas difficult, so if you had a scenic mountain drive planned—maybe rethink that.
What’s Happening in Southern Utah?
Both St. George and Cedar city have been WAY too dry for this time of year, but the good news is: That's about to change!
- Rain is going to roll in Wednesday night and stick around through Friday night, making it the first significant moisture event in A LONG TIME.
- Higher elevations like Pine Valley Mountain and Cedar City will be seeing snow, so don’t be surprised if you wake up and suddenly it looks like February.
- The Temperatures will stay in the 40s, with strong winds up to 25 mph, making it a chilly couple of days.
What This Means for You
- Las Vegas & St. George: Expect rainy commutes, so leave a little extra time on the roads. But remember... it's been so dry so these roads will be very slick!
- Cedar City & Mountain Areas: Snow accumulation could possibly make travel tricky, especially at higher elevations. SLOW DOWN!
- If you have outdoor plans? It might be best to reschedule—unless you love getting soaked or blown away by heavy winds.
