It has felt like an eternity of dry weather across Southern Utah, but finally. Mother Nature has decided to strut her stuff and show up! She's bringing rain, wind, and even some snow to Southern Utah! There's a pretty powerful storm system that is set to move in from Wednesday night through Friday night. This will be giving our region our first real taste of winter in a very long time!

What to Expect in Southern Utah

If you've been wondering if both St. George and Cedar City have decided to skip winter this year, the answer is finally: NOPE! Rain is coming and in the higher elevations, snow is coming too!

Storm Highlights for Utah:

  • Rain: In St. George and the surrounding areas, they'll finally see some rainfall, lasting from Wednesday night through Friday night. After months of super dry conditions, the roads are going to be extra slick, so be careful on that commute.
  • Snow: In the higher elevations, like Cedar City and Pine Valley, they could easily be waking up to a winter wonderland. Snow accumulation is likely, so expect tricky travel conditions on those mountain passes.
  • Wind: Gusts up to 25 mph will make it feel even colder, so get ready for that!

How This Affects You

  • St. George, Washington, Hurricane, and Surrounding Areas: The roads are going to be wet and slippery, so plan extra time on that commute and drive carefully.
  • Cedar City & Mountain Regions: The snow accumulation could make travel hazardous, especially on higher-elevation roads. If you’re heading to Brian Head or just somewhere on I-15, be prepared for icy conditions.
  • Outdoor Plans? If your idea of fun is getting drenched or blown away by heavy winds, then good luck.
