There are certain Christmas traditions that were once considered great but now are considered a punishment. Back in the 60's everybody got together and exchanged fruit cake. Now fruit cake is a joke, nobody wants it. The Grinch used to be a holiday tradition, now when I try and tell my kid we're watching the grinch he's like the one with Benedict Cumberbatch?? No. The one with Jim Carrey?? No. The one with Thurl Ravenscroft? Yes. He sets fire to the Christmas tree.

In College football, the great old holiday tradition of getting awarded by a bowl game is now a punishment. Pop tarts bowl? Ughh. We're all making hundreds of thousands of dollars, why would we want to do that. what they're gonna give us a prize bag with a hulu gift card and a gameboy? We all have two houses, a baby mama, and bitcoin. You want us to get into our pads for another month, practice everyday just so we can go to the heart of dallas bowl and play Western Michigan? No way. Stink Stank Stunk!

In 1968 you had some real old school, cigar chomping, horned rim glasses wearing NFL truthers. George Halas said look, we're the NFL, these little SOBs that are running the AFL, Al Davis etc, are little leaguers and we just need to suffocate them. They have no right to challenge us. All the good players want to play in our league. Wellington Mara, who was the owner of the Giants thought the same thing. We have deep pockets, meanwhile the AFL is playing their games on the CW or whatever nobody cares. They stink. The NFL beat the AFL 35-10 in the first super bowl that was the Packers Chiefs, then 33-14 in the second super bowl that was Packers over Raiders. Then Joe Willy Namath and the boys in 1969 from the weak little AFL team beat Don Shula and the big bad Baltimore Colts with John Mackey, Bubba Smith, Art Donovan. And the fat cats in the NFL front office and all the old owners said okay fine, and the AFL and the NFL merged as one.

College football has a similar dynamic right now. The SEC and the BIG 10 are the NFL, and they look down on the lowly Big 12, who represent the AFL. No team in the Big 12 has won a national championship this century. They don't belong, they don't have the players, they don't have the money, they play on CSPAN. The college football playoff only put in one team from the big 12, putting it on par with the American Athletic Conference and the Sun Belt! The BIG 12 needs its Joe Willy Namath moment this year, damnit! Texas Tech, Joey McGuire, Behren Morton, put on your mink coats, grow out your hair, and win the whole dang thing!
