Former Utah State Aggie Inks NBA Deal

Neemias Queta is one of the biggest names to roll through the state of Utah in the last ten years and was a staple for some really solid Utah State squads.

Queta hung around for three years in Cache Valley, with career averages of 13.2 PPG, 2.5 Blocks, and 9 total boards a game.

Shooting around 60 percent from the field, Queta was even more impactful on the flip side of the ball.

A defensive menace, Queta won the Mountain West defensive player of the year twice (2019,2021) and was on the All-defensive team each and every year he suited up.

Add a first team All-Mountain West appearance in 2021 and Second-Team All Mountain West bids in his other two seasons, USU had quite the accomplished player on their hands.

Queta would forego his senior season in pursuit of the 2021 NBA Draft where the 7-footer was selected 39^th overall in round #2 by the Sacramento Kings.

Queta would appear in 20 games in two seasons as a two-way player for the Kings.

In an average of 7.2 Minutes, Queta would average 2.9 PPG on 49 percent shooting with 2.1 rebounds in limited spots.

After being waived by Sacramento, another two-way contract awaited Queta, this time out in Beantown.

With the Celtics this season, Queta would see a lot more playing time for one of, if not the best teams in the NBA.

Appearing In 26 games thus far, Neemias has put up 4.6 PPG, 4.1 rebounds and shot 61 percent form the field with 0.6 blocks a game on a career high 11.4 minutes per game.

Boston saw the value and depth that Queta could provide especially with the playoff upon us, and offered Neemias his first NBA contract that wasn’t a two-way deal:

Two-way players are not eligible to play in the postseason, and the full NBA contract he just inked, paves the way to potentially see the former Aggie participate in playoff action.

Boston added Xavier Tillman, a fellow big around the trade deadline, which has limited Queta’s opportunities on the team, but the signing itself proves that Boston feels he has more to offer a team with championship aspirations.

In December, Queta hung 14 points in a 37-point win over the Clippers while going 4/7 from the field with 12 boards for a double double.

Another double double came in the form of a narrow loss to Golden State where Queta had 10 & 10.

Expect the hard work to continue to payoff for Neemias as the opportunities increase.
