People Are Looking to Move to College Towns in 2024 

Smaller towns with universities have become increasingly attractive to people looking for a new place to live. The reasons for moving to smaller towns include the increasing ability to work from anywhere, cost of living, and fleeing urban problems like crime and traffic. 

When moving to a smaller town, people are looking for a vibrant location with a good spread of young to old people. Nothing does this better than a place with a university. The food and entertainment options are broad, and the entertainment varies. 

What College Towns Top the List? 

MoveBuddha crunched the numbers and looked at interested searches for 704 college towns from across the United States. Topping the list was Johnson City, Tennessee followed by three cities in North Carolina, Hickory, Asheville and Wilmington. 

Down the list at #13 you'll find St. George Utah, home of Utah Tech University. This interest shouldn't come as a surprise as Southern Utah has experienced non-stop growth for decades. There are very good reasons for wanting to move to Southern Utah.

It is hard to match the outdoor possibilities with amazing National Parks on our doorstep and mountains and slot canyons to explore everywhere you turn. It is also a great place to raise a family with quality health care and good schools. 

The only negative to living in Southern Utah is the cost of living that keeps going up. And part of the reason for this is all the interest from people who want to move here. Nevertheless, sit back and enjoy living in one of the popular places.
