There aren’t too many things all Southern Utahn’s do, but going to the grocery store is probably the closest thing to a common experience. It’s true of most people in the United States as well.

Recently, Slacker ranked the top 40 grocery stores in America and Southern Utah had two on the list. One that we have in Southern Utah also took the #1 spot, but I don’t think most of us would put it in the grocery store category.

Here are the two: at #10 is Albertsons and at #1 was 7-11. Um, wait what? I’m pretty sure that would fit better in the convenience store list. Nevertheless, that was number one and Circle K was slotted lower down on the list as well. Which makes you wonder how they determined the top 40.

Slacker used consumer ratings that they took from yougov polls. They had a popularity rating, based on how many said they liked the stores. This they combined with a fame rating totaling all the people who had heard of the brand.

Part of what made a grocery store popular was the perks the store offered. Looking at the different grocery stores here in Southern Utah, I can see several parts of each one I like. Lin's donuts and fried chicken are great. Harmons also has an excellent deli area. Smith's prices on certain items are better, but Walmart gives you the best bang for the buck. I don’t buy groceries at Target.

I’m sure you have your own list of places to get the best meat or produce. I think my favorite perk now offered by grocery stores is the customer pickup, which makes it so I don’t even have to go in. Best thing ever.

Here’s the list of the top 40 grocery stores in America.
