Nevada Asks Public What Interstate 15 Really Needs Next

According to the Nevada Department of Transportation, the state is seeking public input on possible improvements to I-15 between the California state line and the Sloan Interchange to help plan for future growth, traffic and congestion.

The Express Lane Express

Why stop at regular traffic lanes? Let's add a high-speed autobahn style Vegas lane where vehicles travel only if they are running late for a show, a wedding, or a buffet reservation. Drivers would simply shout, "I swear I have tickets!" and be waved through.

Camelpool Lanes

Or go the other way and forget speed, every state has carpool lanes. Nevada could pioneer camelpool lanes. Two humps, four passengers and unlimited desert credibility.

Camel Safari could show us how it's done and tourists would finally get the authentic Southwest transportation experience they didn't know they needed.

Games of Chance at Every Exit

Traffic delays are more adventurous when you include that famous Vegas sense of chance to a trip. Instead of boring exit signs, travelers could trigger a lever to discover whether they're heading to Primm, Mesquite, or accidentally back to California.

Climate-Controlled Highway

Summer temperatures can feel volcanic. The solution is obvious: one giant air conditioner stretching from the state line to Las Vegas. Is it practical? No. Would it settle every weather complaint? Also no.

The Rolling Buffet

A dedicated lane filled with slow-moving food trucks serving tacos, barbecue and milkshakes. Traffic wouldn't disappear, but nobody would be angry about it anymore.
