A viral post from that showed a purse sitting in the baby aisle that was labeled “She deserved the purse” inspired another creator. The post assumes the mom sacrificed her own desire for the purse to pay for the needs of her child. It was shared by Denae Gonzalez on TikTok. 

When Cecily Bauchmann, another creator, saw the post, she decided to go into Target and put a $100 gift card between a box of diapers. This caused all sorts of people to do the same. Soon there were stories of those who found the cards and their appreciation. 

Inspiring and Worrisome at the Same Time 

That people would connect with others who might need some help is inspiring. Some have noted how the act alone shows moms that they are seen and thought of. It shows how compassionate people can be and a deep desire to do good. 

There have also been concerns about others seeing what is happening and purposefully cruising the baby aisles looking for money. For this reason, some are trying to set up an online option where people can donate or sign up for help. For some reason this isn’t as compelling as knowing someone unexpectedly discovered a gift.

It might be better take the gift card and look for someone who could use it. When they are shopping you could slip it in the box of diapers. Or maybe get in front of them at the checkout counter and pay for them in advance. 

Whatever happens, I hope people will not become jaded in this kind of giving. With some thought, this kind of thing could easily continue and bless people’s lives and uplift those who see it.
