A new program using AI is making it possible to date ancient manuscripts that have eluded researchers previously. Designed to analyze writing styles from the ancient past, this program has made it possible to find when these scrolls with scripture were written.

The Ability of AI to Quickly Analyze Tons of Data Provides Breakthrough

Since the discovery of ancient scrolls in a cave by the Dead Sea in 1947, researchers have been trying to piece together the story and there are many documents they could not place in the timeline. That is changing thanks to AI.

Computers are able to digest far more data than any human and with the help of AI, it can now be analyzed far faster as well. A program has been developed to analyze these ancient writings and figure out where they fit.

Researchers named their AI program Enoch in a nod to the ancient prophet, and it analyzes the writing styles of documents found throughout history. Using this information, it can look at these ancient scripts and place them in the era where they belong.

Some Dead Sea Scrolls are Far Older

Using this Enoch program, researchers now think many of the scrolls found by the Dead Sea are a generation older than they first thought. This changes the historical narrative as it is currently viewed.

Even more interesting is the two pieces of scrolls from the Book of Daniel and Ecclesiastes that were analyzed by the program. It places them at the time when these books were originally written. Could Daniel have written it with his own hand?
