For the 11th consecutive year, Intermountain Health Cedar City Hospital has been recognized as one of the Top 20 Rural and Community Hospitals in the nation by the National Rural Health Association, a distinction that underscores the facility’s continued commitment to high-quality care in southern Utah.

The honor, announced by the NRHA and based on an evaluation conducted by the Chartis Center for Rural Health, places the Cedar City hospital in an elite category. Notably, it is the only hospital in the country to receive the recognition every year since the award’s inception, marking a milestone achievement in rural healthcare.

Results and Stewardship Contribute To Rankings

Hospitals selected for the Top 20 list are evaluated using the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX, a comprehensive tool designed to assess performance across multiple areas. These include quality of care, patient outcomes, patient satisfaction, affordability, and overall financial health. The ranking highlights facilities that not only deliver strong clinical results but also demonstrate responsible stewardship of resources.
