Main Street Will Come Alive At Cedar City’s Spring Fiesta
Cedar City’s Spring Fiesta returns this weekend, continuing a tradition that has quickly grown into one of the community’s most vibrant celebrations. Now in its fifth year, the event will take place Friday evening in historic downtown, transforming Main Street into a lively gathering space filled with music, food, and cultural expression.

“It’s grown so fast,” said Brandon Burk, Cedar City’s events coordinator, during an interview on the Big Picture Morning Show on KSUB radio. “This is its fifth year… last year, we had a little over 4,000 attendees. And this year, we anticipate having something a little closer to six, as long as the weather hangs out for us.”
Originally conceived as a Cinco de Mayo celebration, the event has evolved into something broader and more inclusive. Burk explained that organizers intentionally expanded the focus to celebrate Latin American culture as a whole. “What we've done over the last couple of years is we've kind of pulled away from the Cinco de Mayo aspect… and we've expanded it to just be a Spring Fiesta celebration of Latin American culture,” he said. “So that means all forms of Latin American culture.”
Food, Crafts, Art, Dancing All Waiting For You
The fiesta will feature more than 60 vendors offering a wide range of food, crafts, and goods, alongside entertainment that includes traditional folklórico dancing, student performances, and a live band. A dance floor set up in the street invites attendees to join in throughout the evening, with festivities extending beyond the advertised hours. “We advertise it until 10 o'clock and then we go an extra hour with the DJ,” Burk said. “So, it'll actually go till 11 with lots of dancing and fun.”
In addition to music and food, the event offers interactive cultural experiences. A traditional game of Lotería will be held indoors, while the popular community “Slow Roll” invites families to ride bikes and scooters along a designated route. “It’s a really fun event,” Burk said.

Beyond entertainment, the Spring Fiesta reflects a broader mission. Burk noted that Cedar City Events aims to both attract visitors and enhance quality of life for residents. “Part of our mission, obviously, is to bring people in from other communities… but the other part of it is to increase the quality of life here in Cedar for our residents,” he said.
That balance appears to be working. According to event data, nearly 30 percent of attendees come from outside the region, including nearby communities and even Las Vegas. For Burk, the appeal is simple: “I think it's great that we can turn downtown into a big party every once in a while.”
