Utah Symphony In Cedar City Tonight
Usually, if you want to hear a virtuoso performance of the Utah Symphony Orchestra, that would mean packing up the car and making a trip to Salt Lake City. Then you would likely add in a stay at a hotel, since the concert would likely end a such a time that making the trip back to southern Utah unwise. Add to that the sketchy weather you could face on the roads in the upcoming months, and it could be a very inconvenient situation.
But, tonight, thanks to Cedar City Music Arts, you can enjoy a performance from the Utah Symphony Orchestra right here in Cedar City. The symphony will be the kick off concerts for the 2024-2025 season for Cedar City Music Arts.
Marty Warburton was on the radio with us and told us, “Cedar City Music Arts has been planning a great season.” Planning for this season actually started at the beginning of the 2023 season, and Warburton told us they are already in the planning stages for the 2025-2026 season.
Regarding the Utah Symphony concert Set for this evening, Warburton said, “they're behind the Heritage Theater right now unloading the trucks with all they need for the performance tonight.”
The Utah Symphony was founded in 1940, and is one of the nations major symphony orchestras. The orchestra generally performs over 175 concerts each season, and have played in Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Arts Center. The Utah Symphony was founded by conductor Maurice Abravanel. Abravanel served as the music director for over three decades, from 1947 to 1979.
Warburton also gave us a preview of the other presentations coming this year from Cedar City Music Arts. Next month will be an evening of Double Duos, with Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley along with Tim May & Steve Smith .There will be some pretty good pickin' going on in March when The Little Roy Lewis & Lizzy Long Show comes to town. Roy has been playing the banjo since he was six and he is now in his eighties. Also on the schedule will be performances from Peter Vinograde, The Kruger Brothers, and the Vida Guitar Quartet.

This is the 95th season for Cedar City Music Arts, and they are calling it the Virtuoso Season. You don't have to travel the world to see world renowned performances. Thanks to Cedar City Music Arts all it takes is a trip downtown to the Heritage Theater.
