Better Than Takeout: Steak Stir-Fry with a Killer Marinade
Nothing beats a sizzling steak stir-fry loaded with fall-apart marinated beef, vibrant veggies, and savory sauce. This recipe delivers big flavor in under 30 minutes! You will be the weeknight dinner hero with this one.
The secret? A simple, flavorful marinade that soaks into the steak and locks in that juicy, umami punch. You can use flank steak, sirloin, or even ribeye—just slice it thin for the best texture.
A Quick and Delicious Stir-Fry That Packs Serious Flavor
Ingredients:
For the Marinade:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce or liquid aminos
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar or lime juice
- 1 tbsp honey
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Add any veggies you like! -Canva
For the Stir-Fry:
- 1 lb steak, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp avocado oil for cooking
- 1/2 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1/2 yellow bell pepper sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1/2 cup thinly slicked carrots
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1/4 cup stir-fry sauce or remaining marinade
- Sesame seeds, fresh cilantro and green onions for garnish
Directions:
- Marinate the steak: Mix all marinade ingredients in a bowl and add sliced steak. Really use your hands to massage the marinade into the steak, to get that flavor infused into the meat. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight for deeper flavor.
- Cook the steak: Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high. Sear steak in batches until browned. Set aside.(Small batches work best to get the browned coloring all over the meat.)
- Stir-fry the veggies: In the same pan, toss in vegetables. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until just tender. Over cooking make everything soggy, not crisp and fresh.
- Combine & finish: Return steak to the pan, pour in remaining marinade or stir-fry sauce, and toss everything to coat. Cook 1–2 minutes until heated through.
- Serve hot over rice, noodles, or in lettuce wraps. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. My favorite way to eat this meal is lettuce wraps because this meat just falls apart.
