It’s happening... Finally! St. George is officially getting a second Costco, and honestly IT IS ABOUT TIME! Washington County is growing like crazy (already over 200,000 residents) and our one lonely Costco on the other side of town just can’t keep up with the boom in population!

This new location will be planted on nearly 18 acres at 4700 S. Desert Color Parkway, just off I-15, and it’s not going to be just another cookie-cutter warehouse! This new location will be BIGGER! The 2nd location will be at least 160,000 square feet that’s a whole 12,000 more than our original Costco, which opened almost 25 years ago. They might even tack on another 1,000 to 4,000 square feet before the plans are finalized!

If everything goes as scheduled, we could be pushing our carts through the new Costco by February or March of 2026! The city had to win in a pretty competitive bidding process, but St. George city offered Costco a pretty sweet incentive deal that defers over $3 million in fees for 10 years, which will be completely forgiven if they keep both stores running strong. Without it, this Costco could have easily ended up somewhere else in Washington County!

From an economic standpoint, the city leaders are calling this a no-brainer. More Costco means more sales tax revenue, which means keeping property taxes low! Plus, it’s not just locals footing the bill... visitors, snowbirds, and folks from nearby towns will help fill cash registers.

The plans also include a five-lane fueling station with 15 pumps and 30 fueling spots total, plus nearly 800 parking stalls. With St. George’s population projected to more than double by 2060, it’s safe to say this second Costco isn’t just exciting, it's totally necessary. And for those of you living in Sun River and Desert Color, CONGRATS: $1.50 hot dogs are practically right in your backyard.
