St George, Utah State of the City address was held in the Dixie Convention Center on February 7th at 3pm. In the 'State of the City' address Mayor Randall was very complimentary of all the people and agencies that work together to make St. George and surrounding areas run smoothly.  “I am excited to connect with all those who live and work in St. George to share all the great things we are doing as a city,” Randall said.

Mayor Randall discussed the milestones and achievements in St George for 2022. The Mayor and her team also discussed major plans for 2023 and the future.

· Growth and infrastructure

· Water

· Quality of Life

· Public Safety

· Transportation

Mayor Randall announced dates and sites for several Neighborhood Open Houses for 2023 and unveiled the latest renderings for the new City Hall, the new St George Fire Station #1,  several new parks and road interchanges & expansions.

Growth and Infrastructure-

Although single family residential building permits have come down, Townhome, condo and apartment building permits have continued to increase and commercial building permits have gone up.

A rendering for the new St George City Hall was shown. It will be located at the North East intersection of main street and 100 South.

The plaza will bring a nice area for residents to use for events and gatherings

The current City Hall, built in 1980, will still be used for expansion for the police force.

Water Conservation-

Allowing tall fescue grasses to grow in the "out of play" areas on our golf courses has helped the area save as much as  88.5 million gallons of water in 2021 and an additional  25 million gallons in the past year.

Quality of Life-

New Parks are in the works too! Fossil Falls Community Park, know by locals as the "Skim Board Park," should complete construction in June 2023. Direct access to the trail system and is near the Virgin River.

Broken Mesa Park, in Desert Canyon, officials are hoping opens in late April 2023 in time for their open house.
