St. George HOMETOWN KID, Penei Sewell, Makes NFL History!

Penei Sewell well known as the Offensive Lineman for the Detroit Lions. Maybe you know Penei as the Offensive Lineman for the Oregon Ducks. If you're from Southern Utah, you probably know Penei Sewell as the Offensive Lineman for the Desert Hills Thunder in St. George, Utah! Penei was the #7 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. His list of accomplishments are MASSIVE!

But today, Sewell's accomplishments have reached an ALL-TIME high! Penei Sewell is now the HIGHEST PAID Offensive Lineman in NFL History! Sewell has signed an extension with the Lions for four years, $112 Million dollars! That comes out to about $28,000,000 per year! Penei Sewell is HANDS DOWN, the most successful athlete to ever come out of St. George, and possibly even Utah!

This contract extension is coming for good reason too! According to Next Gen Stats "Penei Sewell has allowed the 2nd-lowest sack rate (0.6%) when playing right tackle since entering the league in 2021 (min. 600 pass blocking snaps). Sewell has also allowed the 6th-lowest pressure rate (6.6%) at RT during his career."

Penei and the Detroit Lions will kick off their season on Sunday, September 8th at home against the Los Angeles Rams. The Lions have the 4th highest odds to win the Super Bowl this upcoming season, according to Vegas Insider. I know this season, I'll be pulling for Penei and the Lions to win it all!
