Your Ultimate Summer Guide to St. George, Utah
St. George in the summer? Yeah, it’s really hot, but it’s also awesome. This little desert city in Southern Utah is packed with cool stuff to do. So get planning!
What to Do in St. George, Utah This Summer.
Start your day early and hit Snow Canyon State Park. Trust me, the morning light over the red cliffs is something else. This is where my, now husband proposed to me! ♥ There are easy trails for families and more rugged ones if you're feeling athletic.
By midday, it’s time to cool off. Locals love Sand Hollow State ParkYou can swim, rent paddleboards, or watch people cliff jump while you catch some rays and eat the lunch you packed. I love people watching there. Pro tip: wear water shoes. The sand gets hot. Another Pro Tip: Slather your legs with some Vaseline to avoid swimmers itch, and towel off immediately after getting out.
If you’ve got kids, Town Square Park is a lifesaver.
If you’ve got kids, Town Square Park is a lifesaver. Splash pads, a lazy river, and a carousel keep things fun (and mostly free). Afterward, you can walk a few blocks to get ice cream or lunch downtown. Many young mothers meet up here to enjoy each others company while jointly watching all of the kids. I used to pack treats, water and a few toys so we could make it a good couple of hours before packing up.
Time for a chill afternoon- Kayenta Art Village is this quiet, artsy corner of the desert with shops, sculptures, and a café that serves up food and fancy drinks. It's kind of eclectic and a cool different vibe from downtown St George, UT.
And if you’re into history or just like old buildings, check out Historic Downtown St. George. It's fun to learn about the settlers of the area and see some buildings with furnishings that have been here for decades.
Bottom line: Summer in St. George is what you make it—just bring sunscreen, drink water, and don’t skip the sunsets. They are beautiful!
