The Exact Day To Change Your Clocks Forward In Utah & Nevada!
It's here again! That time of year where we stumble around half asleep, unsure about what time it is. We're confused about the lost hour of sleep, but also thrilled because the sun wont set before we're even off work! Daylight savings time (DST) begins this week! So before you go to bed Saturday, set those clocks forward an hour (or just let your phone do the work because it's 2025!).
WHEN DO WE SWITCH?
Daylight Savings Time starts this Sunday night, March 9th where 1:59 am quickly turns to 3:00 am.
Why Do We Still Do This?
Daylight Savings Time has been around since 1918. It was originally a wartime thing to help conserve energy. We've been told it was for farmers, but apparently it was NEVER for farmers. The farmers hated it! But the real reason was, more sunlight meant more time for shopping and productivity, which means MORE. MONEY. SPENT!
Could This Be the End of Clock Changes?
Lawmakers in both Utah and Nevada have started pushing bills that would make Daylight Standard Time be around for good. Which is exactly what we DON'T WANT! We want Daylight Savings Time (March to November time). The lawmakers are pushing for Daylight Savings Time (November to March Time), which would still have the sun going down early in the winter time!
What Happens Next?
For now, we will still need to spring forward on March 9th and fall back on November 2nd. But if lawmakers get their way, we'll never have to change again. I just hope they pull their heads out and give us what we want DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME... NOT DAYLIGHT STANDARD TIME!
