The WORST High Schools In Utah in 2026 Are…
When speaking of Utah high schools, not EVERYONE can be the overachiever with that perfect 4.0 GPA. Some schools... well, let's just say they struggle more than others. According to SchoolDigger.com, a site that ranks schools based on their average test scores, has compiled a list of the BEST schools in Utah... As well as the WORST schools in Utah. In this article, I've cut-out the charter schools, and academies. We're only looking at the classic, traditional high schools for this list!
Here are the 10 lowest-ranked, starting with the worst:
Whitehorse High (Montezuma Creek) – It's WAY, WAY out there in San Juan County! It's a fairly small school, belonging to the 1A class. The White Horse Raiders coming in at dead last for Utah high schools!
Granger High (West Valley City) – Home of the Lancers. Their claim to fame: One of the biggest student bodies in the entire state. Well, unfortunately size DOESN'T matter in this case!
Ben Lomond High (Ogden) – The Fighting Scots. Maybe the most unique mascot in the entire state. We're talkin' bagpipes, kilts, and some pretty low test scores.
Cottonwood High (Murray) – The Colts. Once proud young horses, but now more like ponies trotting back behind the rest of the pack.
Hunter High (West Valley City) – The Wolverines. This mascot just upsets me... Utah's state animal is the Rocky Mountain Elk. Their name is Hunter. How are they not the Hunter Bucks?
Kearns High (Kearns) – The Cougars. Up in the western side of the Salt Lake Valley, maybe not the safest school or area... and not the best test scores either.
Cyprus High (Magna) – The Pirates. You'd definitely think with all that treasure, they'd score higher... But I think that map led them straight to the bottom of the state.
Bonneville High (Washington Terrace) – The Lakers. My least favorite mascot in the entire state. It actually makes sense with Lake Bonneville, but that team in Los Angeles just ruined it for me. But unlike those Lakers, they're definitely not winning any championships in academics.
Roy High (Roy) – The Royals. Their crown might be slipping a little bit, but if you're a Royal, do test scores even matter?
Grand County High (Moab) – The Red Devils. Located in Moab, they've got arches, red rocks, and tourists… because academics? Not exactly their tourist attraction!
