Yes, it's still summer... for now... But winter is coming! According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, Utah and Nevada are going to need to buckle up for a season that is about to be PRETTY EXCITING!

For most of Utah, things are looking pretty mild overall, but don't let it fool you! Snow and cold are going to roll in by the waves, especially in mid-December (hello white Christmas)! Late January and early February are also going to be hit with some fresh powder. Northern Utah can expect some below-normal snow, while Southern Utah will be a little closer to average. But wait for it... Southern Utah (St. George, Kanab, Lake Powell) is in the MILD AND SNOWY region! LET'S GO! Snow in St. George this year, break out the sleds, and put those little sleeping bag looking things on the palm trees!

Now, Nevada, on the other hand, is getting ready for slightly different ride. In Vegas and Mesquite, they can expect above-normal temps, but some colder bursts in the middle of November, early December, and late January! But the higher elevations need to be prepared for some snow in December and January! The precipitation is going to be above normal in Eastern Nevada, but much drier in the west. So Ely and Elko could be shoveling more than usual, while Vegas gets the rain!

And if you're from Utah or Nevada, you know there's always that one final SNOWY ENCORE! It happens every year, and 2026 will be no different. We could be getting that one final snowstorm at the end of February or early March! So whether you're in the mountains or desert, winter is about to hit us with a few surprises!
