Serious Allegations in Eagle Mountain

A local pervert in Eagle Mountain, Utah is now facing serious charges after investigators say he went WAY over the line following a breakup. This man allegedly snuck into his ex-girlfriend's home, and hid a camera inside her underage daughter's bedroom.

According to court documents, Eric Steven VanHorssen, a 42 year old, has been charged with burglary (a second-degree felony), along with voyeurism (a Class A misdemeanor.) The investigation started on February 8th when deputies were called after a woman reported that her ex-boyfriend had secretly entered her hours and planted a hidden camera.

Reportedly, the two lived together for more than a decade before recently separating. VanHorssen had moved out and was no longer allowed inside the home. Investigators say that there had already been some concerns after a tracking device, linked to his phone number, was previously found in the woman's vehicle.

Things took a turn for the worse when the woman's 17 year old daughter said VanHorssen contacted her early that morning, asking her to bring him energy drinks to his home. She agreed, but when she arrived, his vehicle wasn't there. After returning home, she and a friend noticed a few things were out of place, including a moved phone charger, and a suspicious USB device. That device allegedly contained a hidden camera. A smoke detector was also missing from the bedroom.

The teen girl then told her mother, who contacted police. Deputies later found signs of a possible entry point through a basement window, along with missing footage from a security camera, during the exact time frame the girls were away from the home.

Subsequent Arrest and Damning Evidence

Later on that same day, VanHorssen was pulled over and arrested on a DUI, which was reportedly his fourth offense. During a search of his vehicle, deputies claim they found small wifi cameras, a smoke detector with a hidden camera, and binoculars. Investigators also discovered some video footage and files that allegedly have confirmed that the device had been places inside the teen's room.
