Walmart Revealing BIG CHANGE To Self Checkout: Utah Affected!
Walmart has recently been rolling out a whole new series of changes over the past year or so and they’ve just added another one to the mix. Recently, Walmart quietly adjusted their very popular coupon policy. This new policy will be limiting the types and number of coupons that customers can use during checkout. Walmart has also been giving its stores a facelift nationwide, with updates to flooring, bathrooms, and a few other small improvements.
But the latest change is different, and honestly you might not notice it right away. This probably isn't something that you'll notice right away, it could take a few visits before you realize something is new.
WHAT IS THE CHANGE?!
Reports indicate that Walmart is quietly tweaking its self-checkout process in an effort to curb theft. The updated technology aims to make it harder for people to sneak items past the checkout without paying. A lot of the time, when people are stealing from Walmart, they're scanning a less expensive item and "Pretending" they just scanned that 75 inch tv, but in reality, they scanned a $2 candy. So don't try to pull a quick one!
HOW WILL THIS WORK?
The new system can recognize items even if their barcodes aren’t scanned, using hidden codes embedded in the packaging that can’t be seen by the naked eye. It’s a pretty clever, high-tech solution! This system can even scan multiple items at once, which should help speed up the self-checkout experience for everyone.
