Walmart has been making some big changes over the past few years, and now they've added another one! Recently though, this giant retailer has quietly updated it's policy on coupons, putting new limits on both the types and specific number of coupons you can use at checkout. With that, Walmart has given its stores a refresh, from the flooring, to bathrooms, and more!

THE BIG CHANGE:

But their latest change is more subtle—and it might take you a few trips to notice something’s different.

SO, WHAT'S THE CHANGE?

Reports are coming in that Walmart is making tweaks to its self-checkout system to help cut down on theft. The new technology is designed to catch people trying to scan cheaper items while sneaking more expensive ones, like ringing up a $5 candle instead of that big-screen TV.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The updated system uses hidden codes embedded in product packaging that can be detected, even if the barcode isn’t scanned. It’s a high-tech way to catch unscanned items, and it can even scan multiple things at once, making the self-checkout process faster and more secure.

With theft being a growing issue for retailers like Walmart, this upgrade should help stop those who’ve been getting away with scanning tricks. If you’re trying to game the system, it looks like your luck is about to run out!
