Watch: Tow Driver Recovers A Crashed Vehicle On I-15
The accidents on I-15 yesterday were crazy! There were so many accidents and slide-offs that all of the tow drivers from Cedar and St George were called out and busy all day.
After the latest southern Utah snow storm on Valentine's Day 2023, I-15 was littered with many vehicles that had either crashed or slid off the road. On my way into work the next morning there were still vehicles that had not been recovered, including a truck that had clearly flipped and had the cab crushed in. Why weren't drivers ready for this storm? We had already had many snowstorms this season, weren't we used to it yet? What made this storm so bad was the temps were already below freezing and the wind kept blowing the snow right back on the road. That made it much slicker than anyone thought. Snowplows worked round the clock and just couldn't keep up with the snow and ice.
This truck and trailer looked like it was trying to stop and avoid the multi semi pile up and ended up in the ditch just yards from the initial accident.
Tow truck drivers do some crazy recovery on and off our roads. This video is from a snowy wreck on Feb 14th 2023. The truck /trailer flipped and ended up in a ditch on the southbound side of the I-15 freeway at mile marker 39, just before the turn in the road headed up to the Black Ridge.

This was right next to the major pile up of semis that had traffic backed up for hours. There were at least 4 semis that had either been involved in the accident or had slid off the road.
It took police and road crews hours to get the multicar/semi accident cleaned up. Desiree Johnson from Get Hooked Towing STG said they got the call from dispatch around 1pm and didn't not pull back into work with the recovered vehicle until around 9pm. I told her thank you for clearing the road way and, "We Love Our Tow Drivers, Road Clean up Crews and First Responders!" Her reply was, "I appreciate hearing that! Some people don't like us." Let's do better. We need to be grateful for the people who are always coming to our aid. Be careful on the road. ♥
