Wildfire Threatens Tiny Utah Town, Evacuations Nearing!
Marysvale, Utah is home to the Paiute ATV Trail, some of the best trails in the country for your side by sides. It's home to a huge 24th of July Celebration, and it's also home to a blazing inferno on the mountains to the west of the city. The fire started early on July 5th, and it's been told the fire started because of lightning... But with clear skies the last few weeks, that seems very unlikely. Something isn't adding up here.
I'm here writing this in Marysvale right now as dark smoke is filling the town. Some people who live closer to the mountains and the canyons have been asked to evacuate their homes. Planes and Helicopters have been seen dropping water on the fire from high distances, and the fire seems to be marching closer and closer to the town. I took a little golf cart and started trying to find different areas to get better views of the fire.
Wildland Fire Crews, or Hotshot Crews have been up on the mountain for the past three days trying to kill the fire, but overnight it appears the fire has doubled in size. Today, it's been especially windy in Marysvale which is even worse when dealing with a wildfire. There have been gusts up to 30 mph. We've also been told there's a good chance they could be shutting off the water and power in town to help fight the fire. Residents have been asked to be prepared with gasoline for cars and generators, filling their tubs full of water, and being prepared for a few days without power or water.
Unfortunately, Marysvale may never look the same again.
