Southern Utah doesn't get storms very often, but when they do... these storms are NO JOKE! Sometimes the wind rips trees from their roots, and the rain can cause floods so quickly and ruin homes. Photos have been found of damage that hit St. George last fall around Dixie High School and the surrounding areas. These storms pulled down trees, roofs, fences, and nearly tore the entire goal post at Walt Brooks Stadium at Dixie High School.

St. George local, Jacquie Hardy posted photos and videos to Facebook showing the damage sustained to her yard in downtown St. George. This storm tore a MASSIVE tree from the ground, toppling it to the ground on top of the cinderblock wall. There's no way to tell the damage to the cinderblock wall with the tree still laying on top of it. Jacquie estimates this huge tree to be at least 70 years old. The tree being torn up also caused the concrete in front of her house to be ripped out as well.

DIXIE HIGH SCHOOL DAMAGE:

While driving by the former site of the Don Lay Flyer Field on 700 South, I was shocked to see the damage to the current tennis court area, and the fence torn down at the Walt Brooks Stadium Football Field. A man was there cleaning up signs and ensuring that there was no live power endangering people.

The former 1st base dugout, which still stands, had it's roof torn off and was currently laying on 700 south. The new baseball field which is to the south, experienced more damage. The entire left field fence was toppled.

As stated earlier, the fences to the North of the field were torn down, with sponsored signs laying on the parking lot between Flyer Field and the St. George City Pool. The South Field Goal Post was almost torn from the ground as well. It was leaning to the left, and leaning forward! This will need to be fixed real soon, as the high school football season is upon us!

This area was hit hard as well, with a huge tree in left field torn from the ground, messing with the left field fence. This whole area is near the Dixie High School Seminary building was hit hard with wind. Multiple trees in this area were torn from the ground or broken off.

The Senior Care Center, The Meadows Escalante, just off I-15 was also hit. However, the only damage I witnessed was their huge sign being torn down.
