St. George is home to TWO new restaurants in town that sound VERY similar. One is Cubby's, while the other is Chubby's. For this review, I tried the latter: Chubby's Cafe off Bluff Street next to Hurst Ace Hardware. Chubby's is a Utah-based restaurant with locations in Orem, Vineyard, Saratoga Springs, Riverton, Payson, Tooele, Pleasant Grove, Heber, and now St. George.

Right as you walk in, you can tell someone has put some heart, soul, and MONEY into this restaurant. It's all very vintage and cool on the inside. You'll see a lot of license plates, pieces of cars, and even a mannequin or two. It feels a little bit like the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland... But in the best way possible! You'll even catch a vintage car parked next to the front doors!

MY ORDER:

Bacon Ranch Burger:

I'm the KING of dipping a burger in ranch. It is delish. When I saw Bacon Ranch Burger on the menu, I knew what I was getting! I got cheese, ranch, and onions on the burger and it came out hot & juicy! I will say, the meat was a little undercooked. The burger was pretty pink (which would've freaked me out most days... but I was hungry today!) But the burger was incredibly delicious. The bun was soft, meat was very juicy, I could've done with more Ranch on the burger, but that's alright. Really excellent burger!

BBQ Burger:

I wanted to try a burger that wasn't so basic like a Bacon Cheeseburger, so I tried the BBQ Burger. It had grilled onions on it, and instead of the Pepperjack cheese, I just went with the normal American cheese. This thing was totally different from my Bacon Ranch burger, but still so great! I loved the grilled onions.

Beer Battered Fries:

If you're looking for a GREAT Beer Battered Fry... This is the place! The Beer Battered Fry is the best fry in the fry family. These were big and crispy, but soft on the inside. Really Really good fries!

Mac & Cheese:

I wanted to try the Mac & Cheese. It was good, but it didn't totally blow me away. It was just a basic Mac & Cheese. It was similar to something you'd get at KFC or at a grocery store deli. It's Mac & Cheese, so it's good... But I wasn't in awe over it.

SAUCE BAR:

I'm a huge fan when a place has a sauce bar, and Chubby's has one! They've got a pump of Fry Sauce, and Chubby's Sauce. The Fry Sauce was just normal, delicious Fry Sauce, but Chubby's Sauce is like Fry Sauce mixed with BBQ Sauce. It was surprisingly good! I was definitely splitting time between both the Fry Sauce and Chubby's Sauce! There was also a pump of normal ketchup for all you boring people out there! Plus, Chubby's also has their own brand of hot sauces that are there as well.

THE NEGATIVES:

Alright, here's some of the negatives about Chubby's. The undercooked burger, I wasn't a huge fan of. I like my burgers with no pink. If you like your burgers pink, then PERFECT! The Mac & Cheese was just okay. Another thing I didn't love was ordering a burger AND fries. What ever happened to burgers and fries being served together as a meal? It was around $30 bucks for two burgers, fries, and Mac & Cheese. Not terrible, but also... not the cheapest place in town!
