DJ’s Super Honest Food Review: Sanchez Mexican Food
Just the other day, I received a message from somebody asking me if I would be willing to try their restaurant and do a food review. I absolutely, I would LOVE to do that. This place is called Sanchez Mexican Restaurant. They're located on Sunset Boulevard in the same parking lot as Taco Bell. I've actually been told before that this is one of the MOST AUTHENTIC places to get Mexican food in town. Let's try it out!
VIBES:
I walked into this place and it was IMMACULATE! So clean! Maybe I was there at a slow time, but there was only two people there. The girl running the cash register was constantly wiping the counters, the tables, the windows and mopping the floors. I loved it.
FOOD:
The had a HUGE menu! I've been told the top items are the Chiles Rellenos, Carnitas Plate, Empanadas, Street Tacos, and Smothered Burritos. But I'm picky on just about EVERYTHING.
I ordered three items:
- Carne Asada Nachos
- Carne Asada Street Tacos
- Chicken Enchiladas
Carne Asada Nachos:
Listen to me when I say this... These are the BEST NACHOS in town! They're tortilla chips loaded with refried beans, rice, pico, carne asada, melted cheese, topped with sour cream! They were gorgeous, but tasted even better than they looked. I even drizzled some of their red (hot) sauce on it. It was perfect. I've been thinking about these nachos everyday since. If you're a nacho fan, you've got to try these!
Carne Asada Street Tacos:
The street tacos were pretty basic looking. Just carne asada on tortillas. I'm not positive if they were flour or corn tortillas, but I want to say they were white corn tortillas. I topped them with onion and cilantro that they had at the salsa bar. I then drizzled the red (hot) sauce on top. Holy cow! SO GOOD! I would absolutely suggest adding the cilantro and onion to them as well, if they taste a little bland.
Chicken Enchiladas with Rice and Beans:
The chicken enchiladas were excellent! They were smothered in a red enchilada sauce with melted shredded cheese and sour cream, and filled with juicy shredded chicken. On the plate with the enchiladas were refried beans and rice. Their rice was delicious, but it wasn't an average Spanish rice. It was yellow and amazing! Lettuce and pico were served on the side as well.
Salsa Bar:
Their salsa bar had Red Sauce and Green Sauce. It also had like a creamy avocado sauce, pickled carrots, onions and cilantro, limes, and more. When I go to Mexican restaurants I always get the red sauce, but this red sauce is LIKE FIRE! Be careful! It's pretty warm. But, I have the mouth of a 5 year old girl.
Hours:
They're open Monday-Saturday from 9:00 am - 9:00 pm and closed Sundays.
Sanchez Mexican Food is located at 1418 W Sunset Blvd in St. George. They're located in the same parking lot as Taco Bell.
