3 Easy Ways to Commemorate 9/11
Every year, September 11th gives us a chance to pause and remember one of the most impactful days in American history. Whether you lived through it or only learned about it in school, the anniversary is an opportunity to honor lives lost, recognize the bravery shown, and reflect on what unity means today. I never want anything like that to happen again but I do miss the unity we all felt. I want to focus on that and not the division that is happening today.

Share the Story and Teach the Lessons

1. Take Part in a Moment of Silence
At 8:46 a.m. Eastern Time—the moment the first plane struck the World Trade Center—many Americans pause for a moment of silence. Whether you’re at work, school, or home, setting aside even one minute to reflect honors those who were lost and shows respect for survivors, families, and first responders.
2. Support First Responders and Veterans
One of the best ways to commemorate 9/11 is by giving back to those who protect us every day. This could mean donating blood, dropping off snacks at a local firehouse or police department, or volunteering with a veterans’ organization. Small gestures of gratitude carry a big impact.
3. Teach or Share the Story
For younger generations, 9/11 can feel like history in a textbook. Take time to share your memories of where you were that day, or watch a documentary together to keep the story alive. Passing on the lessons of courage, sacrifice, and unity helps ensure we never forget.
Final Thought
Commemorating 9/11 doesn’t have to be complicated or formal. It’s about remembering, honoring, and uniting. Whether you pause in silence, give back, or share the story, these small acts help keep the memory alive in a meaningful way.

25 Songs That Were Banned From the Radio After 9/11

As we remember the attacks that occurred on 9/11, we remember the way radio was there for listeners all across the country. We lived minute by minute not knowing what was going to happen next. We came together as a nation, and we mourned together. One of the ways radio responded was to be extra-sensitive to our listeners, being careful not to play songs with titles or lyrics that might stir up the raw emotions with which we were all dealing. These are just 25 of those songs.
