Breaking Down Housing Costs in Southern Utah

Never mind eating out, groceries have seen a big jump too. A family of four might spend $1,000–$1,200/month on food, especially with teen boys in the mix. If you want to eat out, expect at least a 30% increase of what you paid just a few years ago. Add in gasoline costs (around $3.40+/gallon), internet, and utilities, and you're easily looking at $4,000+ per month in just the basics.

Childcare is another major factor. Full-time daycare can run $700–$1,000/month per child, even more if you're going with a private preschool or after-school programs. A LendingTree study, as reported by Business Insider, found that the average annual cost of raising a child in Utah is approximately $21,784, with childcare being one of the largest expenses.
