Can I Carry A Gun in Utah? Where?
Contrary to popular belief, the list of states that allow you to tote your firearm without a permit, is growing. Alabama just added themselves to the growing list in 2023.

Utah eliminated its permit requirement for concealed carry in 2021 and updated it in 2023 and there is still some confusion. What does that mean?
It means that if you are 21 and older you can conceal carry a gun in Utah with no permit. Concealed carry just means that you have your firearm in a purse or bag or in a holster that is covered by your clothing.
Also in Utah, it is legal for those 18 and older to OPEN carry with no permit.
Now, these laws apply unless you are a prohibited person as defined in Utah State law under 76-10-503 or 18 U.S.C. 922(g)
It is still ILLEGAL to carry a weapon in any state or federal buildings (post office, court, secured correctional facilities), colleges or higher education buildings or airports.
There is NO legal requirement to notify a law enforcement officer you are in the possession of or carrying a firearm. Although it is a courtesy that is still highly recommended.
It is still a great idea to learn to use and carry your weapon. Classes are a great way to learn about and ask questions about weapons.
Can I carry a gun at church?
In Utah it is ILLEGAL to carry a firearm into a house of worship or even a private residence if notice has been given/posted. Even if you have a permit and have completed a concealed weapons class, it is ILLEGAL to carry into the house of worship or residence.
Can I carry a gun in Walmart in Utah?
Those who have a concealed carry permit are still permitted to bring their guns into Walmart so long as the gun is concealed.
If you are going to choose to carry a gun/weapon, it is wise to be informed about the laws in Utah and any other state you are going to be in.
