A New TV Show Coming About Utah’s “Swinging Mormon Wives”
If you've been in Utah for some time, you probably know we've started to become a hub for swinging activity. Swinging, or the practice of engaging in the swapping of sexual partners within a group, especially on a habitual basis, has been on the rise here in Utah. Now, Hulu could be in development of a new docuseries about "Swinging Mormon Wives."
The title of the docuseries is "The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives", and it's currently in the works according to Rob Mills of Walt Disney Television. Mills was in New Orleans at a Realscreen Event and said “We have a show that we’re working on now that we’re excited about, which is about a group of Mormon wives who are also swingers.”
This wouldn't be the FIRST series made by Hulu with focus on the LDS faith. Just in the last few years Hulu has created "Under The Banner Of Heaven", "Mormon No More", and "Daughters Of The Cult", which is obviously about the FLDS faith, and not the LDS faith.
There's no set release date on when this show would come out, but if you're into this type of thing... You could get casted on this show and be very famous.
Stop Tipping THESE PEOPLE In Southern Utah!
Tipping has become SO OVERWHELMING! Everywhere you go there's a tip jar, OR... the dreaded iPad turn. No matter where you go, somebody is flipping that iPad, while telling you there's "Just a few questions for ya". The worst part is: I'm SUCH a pushover! I tip everywhere because of the pressure. I feel like if I don't tip, they're going to spit in my food!
Here's a list of the places that we SHOULD be tipping!
Your Server (Obviously):
If you're going into a restaurant and someone is actually WAITING on you, delivering you your food and drinks, you should be tipping this person. Now, you don't HAVE to tip 20%, but if they're doing a good job, you should be tipping a pretty good amount.
Your hairstylist:
If they're cutting your hair, and doing a good job, PLUS giving you a good experience, yes! Tip them! It doesn't have to be a certain amount on this one. Just go with what you feel!
Your Delivery Driver (Pizza Guy, Door Dash, etc.):
Yes, absolutely yes! if these people are picking up your food, and delivering it to YOU... They need to be tipped. They're using their own gasoline, putting miles on THEIR car, so you can sit on your couch, throw them a couple bucks!
Your Uber Driver:
I believe 99% of Uber Drivers deserve a tip, but there's always the situation where your experience is just BAD, and in that case, it's okay to not tip them... But that's so rare.
Your Tattoo Artist:
This one is hard for me because Tattoo Artists (for the most part) set their own prices, so should you tip on top of what they've said their service costs? It feels like a grey area, but hopefully they did an amazing job on something that will be on your body forever, and for that... throw them some cheddar, baby!
Your Massage Person, Nail Tech, Pedicure etc.:
Imagine having to rub somebody's nasty back or feet, or cutting their nails... That person deserves a tip. Come on, man! That's like my nightmare. But they should get an even bigger tip if they gave you such an incredible experience, and they have a real talent for it.

ANY Drive-Thru:
Come on, no! I've been to places that literally hand me the little iPad through the window. This is a drive-thru, man! This has gotten out of hand! I'm sorry, Swig, Dutch Bros., Starbucks, but we're looking at you!
To-Go Orders:
This one is a bit of a grey area for me, but you're getting the food THAT YOU PAID FOR, and nobody is serving you... So I say: NO TIP!
Any Self-Checkout Service:
I've seen this popping up like crazy! A self-checkout asking for a tip!? Does the tip go right back into my pocket? I'm the one working here!
Who did I forget?! Who should you absolutely NOT be tipping, and who SHOULD you be tipping?
WHOA! These Celebrities Grew Up Mormon?!
Let's face it. If you grew up in Utah, you were either raised Mormon, or your friends were.
To me, it's always pretty interesting when you find out about a celebrity that was ALSO raised Mormon!
Here are a list of celebrities that were raised Mormon, and a few might SHOCK you!
1. Ryan Gosling:
Ryan was raised in the LDS church, with a very active mother. However, she let Ryan choose his own course and eventually he decided to leave the church.
2. Katheryn Heigl:
Katheryn Heigl was raised Mormon. She's even said the values were deep in her core that she didn't want to live with a man before marrying him!
3. Paul Walker:
The Fast and the Furious star was also raised in the church. He didn't leave until he was an adult. However, Paul has referenced that his Mormon beliefs DEFINITELY helped influence his idea of family beliefs and parenting.
4. Amy Adams:
Amy no longer lives the Mormon lifestyle but has said "What I still feel and rely on from that kind of teaching, is how you can bring a lot of joy to the people around you by being positive and hopeful."
5. Bryce Harper:
Bryce Harper is a Major League SUPERSTAR out of Las Vegas. He went to early morning Seminary in high school and even has Luke 1:37 ("For with God nothing shall be impossible") printed on all his bats.
6. Derek & Julianne Hough:
The dancing brother and sister duo are seen all over TV. They're no longer practicing, but In an interview with the New York Post, Julianne said the "no sex before marriage, no drinking, no caffeine, no smoking, no swear words, no R-rated movies" environment was hard for her when she entered Hollywood.
In Derek's book, "Taking the Lead: Lessons from a Life in Motion,", he talks about his upbringing being "VERY MORMON" and says today, he still tries to not consume alcohol or coffee.
7. Chelsea Hander:
Comedian, Chelsea Handler was raised in a split-faith family. Her dad was Jewish, while her mom was Mormon. The kids got to choose what religion they wanted to follow, to which Chelsea says “I grew up as a Jew and Mormon … so we had to choose and I chose Jewish, obviously, because Mormonism is so ridiculous."
8. Aaron Eckhart:
You would know Aaron as Harvey Dent aka 2 Face in The Dark Knight! Aaron served a mission in Switzerland, but is no longer practicing. He told Entertainment Weekly “I’m sure people think I’m a Mormon, but I don’t know that I’m a Mormon anymore, you know? To be honest, to be perfectly clear, I’d be a hypocrite if I did say that I was, just because I haven’t lived that lifestyle for so many years.”
Possible Names For A Utah NHL Team!
News broke earlier this week that Ryan Smith, Utah Billionaire and Utah Jazz owner has filed to have an NHL team in Salt Lake City. This comes at a time where it appears Utah could be frontrunners for a Major League Baseball franchise as well. But, what names come to mind for an NHL team?
Here are some potential names for Utah's future NHL team:
Utah Yeti:
This seems to be the frontrunner for NHL names for Utah. Utah and Yeti sound similar, and they roll off the tongue together. Plus, Utah has been a hot spot for Bigfoot (or yeti) sightings. Is it a little too cartoonish for an NHL franchise though?
Utah Blizzard:
This one makes some sense for a few different reasons. Firstly, Blizzard and Utah go hand-in-hand, and with it a cold, icy brand, that makes sense for an ice hockey team too. But, the BIGGEST reason this works is the Double-Z. Utah has done this for YEARS with the Jazz, the Starzz, the Buzz, the Pioneerzz, and event he team store, Fanzz. It wouldn't be a stretch to assume they would be called the Utah Blizz.
Utah Mountaineerzz:
The Utah Mountaineerzz is a little cartoony, but also cool, intense, and very Utah! To outsiders, the state of Utah is about Mountains and Snow, and there's been many Mountaineers here in Utah. But let's just totally buy in and go with the Double-Z here as well. I also went with Copper as a main color here based on the copper than gets mined here.
Utah Prospectors:
It's not the strongest name of all of them, but it deals with our history here in Utah! There were many prospectors in our state, and Utah was full of gold too! It could be fun to pair gold with icy blue, navy, and white.
OTHER MOCKUPS:

Tyler also did a rendering for the Utah Blizzard. He opted to go with purple and teal, and a Rocky Mountain Elk is the state animal here in Utah.

The 5 BEST WAYS To Get Out Of A Speeding Ticket In Southern Utah
It happened to me TODAY! I was driving into work, absolutely speeding on I-15, trying not to be late for work when suddenly... WOOP WOOP! The red and blue lights are flashing behind me! I'm screwed! I was going 86 in a 70! Miraculously, I did NOT get a ticket because I followed these fool proof steps!
Pull Off Somewhere SAFE:
Even if you have to keep driving for a little bit longer, make sure that you get to a place that is safe for both you and the officer, especially on a busy freeway.
If it's dark, turn your dome lights ON:
If it's a little dark turn those lights on so the cop can see there's no monkey business going on! As a cop, I'm sure you'd be nervous about that ANYONE could do to you if they're wanted.
Have your License, Registration, and Insurance card READY before they approach your car:
Don't act like you have no idea what you're being pulled over for, and plus... They're going to ask for it anyway so just be prepared for it and we can get it over with ASAP!
BE POLITE!
They're doing a job, and you (probably) did something wrong. Don't put your phone in their face, recording them. Don't be disrespectful and short. They'll definitely give you a ticket if you're being a jerk.
Be Honest:
If they ask you why they pulled you over and you know why, you can say "I was probably going a little fast. I didn't even realize until I looked down." They'll more than likely appreciate the honesty.
If you're lucky enough that the cop let you off with a warning, express your appreciation, wish them safety in their day, and be on your way. It really doesn't have to be a big deal here. Just be respectful, know you f'd up, own it, and hope for the best!
Things Utah Tech University Will Build Instead Of A Parking Lot
Have you been in St. George for a while? Do you remember when Dixie State was just small? Do you remember when there was actually somewhere to park on campus? Those were the days! It feels like Utah Tech (formerly Dixie State) is CONSTANTLY expanding their campus, but also REFUSING to put in anywhere to park. They're actively building NEW buildings on top of parking lots.

A New Student Union Building:
This is something that is actually potentially in the works now! Posted on Facebook, the Utah Tech Student Association is looking for support to raise money to build a new Student Union on campus. The land it would sit on WAS a parking lot around 10 years ago!
More Dorms:
Yes, dorms are important for these students to stay in and feel safe, and I'm sure we'll be seeing A LOT MORE dorms pop up in the coming future.
Roman Coliseum:
Would this one surprise me? Absolutely not. Utah Tech will find a way to build the "Dixie Coliseum on one of the remaining parking lots.
Treehouse for Sick Cats:
Why have a parking lot when we could build a treehouse for sick cats on the campus at Utah Tech? You can just park on the street 4 miles down the road! Come on!
Halfpipe:
Yes, a halfpipe would be a much better idea than building a place to park your cars. The university is growing SO RAPIDLY... Yet, the parking lots are shrinking even more rapidly.
Airport:
Screw it! Let's just put a whole runway on campus in leu of parking! I think the University assumes that most students live on campus and don't drive their cars to class... They're wrong.
Ice Rink:
I wouldn't be shocked AT ALL to see Utah Tech constructing an ice rink BEFORE ever building a new parking lot on campus!
Fishing Pond:
Yeah, right outside of the football, baseball, and softball stadiums are some of the LAST remaining parking lots... However, I'm sure they'll be replaced soon. Maybe by a student-only fishing pond! Makes sense, right?
90's Sitcoms: Where The Families Would Live In St. George, Utah
IF you're like me, you grew up watching sitcoms. Maybe you'd run home from school and turn one on, or you'd sit with your family on Friday nights and watch TGIF on ABC. Maybe you'd say their catch phrases in your everyday life... like "You got it, dude!", "Have Mercy!", "Did I Do That?" But, what if these families lived here in St. George? What neighborhoods would they call home?
Here is where the families from 90's sitcoms would live in St. George:
The Banks Family (Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air):
The Banks family lived in a massive home in Bel-Air, California. They were a very well-off family in an expensive neighborhood. This one is the easiest one in my book... The Banks family would live in the gated community of Stone Cliff, here in St. George!
The Connors: (Roseanne):
One of my favorite sitcoms from the 90's was Roseanne. They were REAL! They showed struggle, they showed money issues, and they were trying to make ends meet. I'm putting the Connors in Dog Town Washington! If you're not aware, Dog Town is the area by the Washington City Community Center. That's a blue-collar area, and I feel like that they would absolutely live out there!
The Tanners (Full House):
The Tanner family lived in San Francisco, California. I don't know how the afforded to pay the bills. The homes in San Francisco are gorgeous, but EXPENSIVE! If the Tanners lived in St. George, they would be out in Desert Color! Desert Color is a more boujee area, with expensive homes that feel very "California."
Seinfeld:
Jerry and Kramer were next door neighbors in their apartment building, but George and Elaine are out somewhere else in the city. But they're all RIGHT in the city near Central Park, and coffee shops in New York City. If these guys lived in St. George, they would definitely be in the new tall condos off of Tabernacle. There's a couple coffee shops around, the park at Town Square, and it's downtown as well!
The Matthews (Boy Meets World):
The Matthews family is from Philadelphia. Their home is in a gorgeous neighborhood with big yards, old trees, and it looks a lot like the homes built nearly 100 years ago. For the Matthews, they would absolutely live downtown in St. George near the Brigham Young home.
The Taylors (Home Improvement):
This one is more difficult. The Taylors lived in Detroit, Michigan... But their house was NEVER shown, so I can't even tell what type of architecture they had. But I can tell you they were in a safe neighborhood because their kids were gone all day and they weren't worried. The Taylor family would definitely live in Bloomington Hills. That neighborhood is old, but safe. They've also got older neighbors full of wisdom like Wilson was.

Let's go back to a simpler time. A better time. The 90's! HANDS DOWN the BEST decade to ever grow up in!

LANDLINES:
Remember calling a guy or girl and having the ABSOLUTE BALLS to ask their parent's if you could talk to their kid? Not only THAT... But you would sit on the phone for hours hoping your other family members aren't listening to EVERYTHING you're saying in the other room!
DOORS UNLOCKED:
I don't know where you're from, but here in St. George, our doors were always unlocked! Night time, day time, it didn't matter! Our doors were NEVER locked!
Cooking:
How old were you when you were cooking full meals for yourself? I was at least 5 years old making Top Ramen on the stove. BOILING WATER? A 5 YEAR OLD? What could possibly go wrong?!
Gone... ALL DAY:
I was NEVER home as a kid. I'm talking like... 7 here. My parents had absolutely no clue where I was at! I was blocks, sometimes miles away from home with my buddies just hanging out, riding bikes!
Home Alone:
My sister is seven years older than me, and I can remember my mom leaving me home alone when she would take her to school... My sister was in SIXTH GRADE! That means I would have been four! Four years old, waking up alone, making myself breakfast!
Halloween:
On Halloween every year, I see parents walking their kids door to door. ABSOLUTELY NOT! I was never with my parents. Even in Kindergarten. If my parents would've even mentioned going with me on Halloween I would've laughed them out of the room! Me and my buddies were gone all night, and we were SO FAR from home!

What is an "Eye Sore"? Google gives the definition of "Something displeasing to the sight."
St. George, Utah is GORGEOUS... But it definitely has it's fair share of Eye Sores around town... Here are some of the TOP EYE SORES according to Southern Utah's Citizens!

I've noticed this my whole life here in St. George and it looks pretty awful. I'm not exactly sure what the plan was here... But It's taken a ton of beauty away from that hillside.
These boarded up condos off Bluff Street that are LITERALLY falling off the hill:
I believe the culprit is BLUE CLAY. The homes are quite literally sliding off this hill. The homes look condemned and boarded up. I know a few have been removed out of fear of them crashing down into Pier 49 Pizza.
The old Dairy Queen also off Bluff Street:
The old Dairy Queen building is just below the condemned condos, and they've been gone for probably close to 8 years now. I had many great memories in this building... and now: It just looks HAUNTED AND SPOOKY!
This new... Dead Weed, Dead Tree, Gravel Area at the Bloomington Walmart:
I was driving home from the Bloomington Walmart the other day and noticed THIS monstrosity! It used to be a grass area where people would eat, and play with their dogs. But apparently the drought made them pull the grass out and put in gravel. Now the trees are dying, the bushes are dying... and lots of weeds too. It's pretty bad.
