Southern Utah's "Secret" Hot Spring No Longer A Secret

We made a quick trip to Salt Lake last Saturday. Up and back in one day is never fun but it was for a good reason: hot springs.

I decided to have our family try something new on the way back, so they had more memories than just driving for eight hours.

I'm always the one making the family try new things.

I researched hot springs in Utah and tried to find our best option. We didn't have a ton of time, so we couldn't do much hiking. Since we didn't know exactly what time we would be at the location, we couldn't make a reservation.

Everyone is clearly out of their minds with excitement

If you look into hot springs in Utah, there are plenty to choose from. But with my criteria, I came upon Meadow Hot Springs. It's a short drive from Fillmore on a dirt road.

We changed in to our swim suits in a gas station bathroom and then we were off. As we were getting closer, we could tell that it was a very busy place.

This particular hot spring is located on private property. However, the owners don't mind visitors as long as everyone cleans up after themselves.

There is even a wooden box for donations to say thank you to the land owners.

It's private property, so throw in a couple bucks to say thanks to the owners!

After a short walk (in mud) to the hot springs, all but one of my kids had lost excitement. My husband even lost enthusiasm for the experience. It was cold outside and the trek in the mud was not fun.

The walk to the hot springs is less than glamorous.

So when we got there, my eight year old and myself were the only ones to experience the hot spring.

The hot spring is genuinely very cool, but it's pretty busy.

We didn't stay for very long and I didn't get in all the way but it was definitely a fun, short adventure! I definitely recommend trying it out.
