Tiny Utah Town’s Businesses on the Brink: They Need Your Help!
A few weeks ago, in the mountains outside of Marysvale, Utah, a raging wildfire began. Winds have pushed the fire all over the mountain. Evacuations have happened, then been lifted. The fire has now moved more to the north further away from Marysvale. Marysvale is a tiny little town in Central Utah that is a major tourist destination. People come from all over the world to enjoy the small town, the 24th of July Celebration, as well as the world-renowned Paiute ATV Trail. Because of the fires, and smoke this year, many people have cancelled their trips to Marysvale, leaving these businesses on the brink of closure!
MARYSVALE IS STILL OPEN:
When I returned to Marysvale this weekend, I expected major smoke, dark grey skies, and bad air quality. That wasn't the case at all. The fires and smoke had moved northwest, and Marysvale was ALL blue skies! Businesses still had their open signs on, but the usually bustling town, was now a ghost town! Marysvale is just as open as ever, and as of right now, the air quality is nowhere near dangerous. But, people don't know that. All they've seen is that Marysvale is on fire, and it pressured them to cancel their trips.
BUSINESSES THAT NEED YOUR HELP:
Moore's Old Pine Inn:
Utah's OLDEST RUNNING Hotel is Moore's Old Pine Inn. Opened in 1882 by a Protestant Missionary and her Civil War Medic husband, this hotel has all the charm you could ever want in an old hotel. You can stay in the old hotel, or stay in the cabins around back. Both the hotel and cabins have had MULTIPLE ghost sightings, although people have reported that the spirits are good and not evil. These rooms are themed, as well. You can stay in the Hitchin' Post Suite (Their signature suite), the Miners Suite, Indian Suite, Betsy Ross room, Hunters Lodge, Fishin' Hole Room, and MANY OTHERS! You can even opt to have a chuckwagon style breakfast every morning under the large pavilion. Check out their website HERE!
Coach's Dog House:
My mom, Tami, was raised in St. George and Marysvale. Every summer, we've spent TONS of time in Marysvale, and we've always had homes there. Three years ago, my mom decided to open a hotdog restaurant called Coach's Dog House. At Coach's Dog House, you'll be waited on by my own mother, and you can get yourself a gourmet hotdog. Some hotdogs you've tried before, some you've never heard of before. Like the Sweet & Salty dog: A hotdog with Peanut Butter & Jelly with Bacon. I know it sounds crazy, but it's become one of the favorites at the Dog House!
Prospector Cafe:
Opened in 1995, The Prospector is a place to get an AWESOME Burger, or delicious breakfast in the mornings! Last week, I went TWICE for breakfast at The Prospector and I was not disappointed. Inside is like stepping back in time during the Gold Rush in Marysvale. They also serve beer here!
Tomatoes Pizza Pie:
Some of the BEST PIZZA you'll ever eat is here in Marysvale, at Tomatoes. It was just voted New York Times BEST New York Style Pizza in Utah. They've got tons of different flavors of pizza, plus pastas, breads, salads, sandwiches, and more. This place is a MUST HAVE when in Marysvale!
Lizzie & Charlie's RV Park:
Lizzie & Charlie's is the longest standing RV Park in Marysvale, with tons of shade, quiet, and it's right in town. They've got their little store where you can buy supplies and some small groceries, or even rent a side by side for the Paiute ATV Trail! Check out their website HERE!
Marysvale Motel 4 U:
One of the two MOTELS in Marysvale is Marysvale's Motel 4-U. A nice, clean place to stay while you're out on the trail, or just enjoying Marysvale. It's right in the hear of Marysvale and located right next to the park and the rodeo grounds, if you happen to be there for the 24th of July celebrations! Check out their website HERE!
Piute County Crafts:
Piute County Crafts is located Marysvale's old school building! My grandpa who would be in his 90's now, went to Elementary School in this building. Now, they've got tons of crafts, kids clothes, toys, boutique items and more!
